The first cordless, electric drill I ever bought for myself was an eight (or 6) volt Makita. This was in the 1990s when I lived in Houston, Texas and worked in the art department on television commercials.
Art departments on commercials are responsible for “dressing” a film set; providing furniture, wall decor, light fixtures, and anything else you’d use to decorate a room, similar to what an interior decorator does. My first Makita was small and lightweight with a slender handle, which made it easy to transport between sets.
