Stormy Daniels Interview Delivers Ratings Boost for '60 Minutes'

Stormy Daniels' highly anticipated 60 Minutes interview delivered strong ratings for the CBS news magazine.

Preliminary numbers from Nielsen show that ratings nearly doubled when compared to the week before, according to Deadline.

Viewers of the program tuned in to get details of the porn actress's claims that she had a tryst with President Donald Trump years ago and later accepted a $130,000 payment to keep quiet about the affair. During the interview, Daniels said that she was threatened to keep quiet about the affair by an anonymous stranger.

"A guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story,’" Daniels told Anderson Cooper. "And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, ‘That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.’ And then he was gone.”

The porn star's interview with Cooper appears to be the highest rated 60 Minutes interview since former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama appeared on the program after his historic win in 2008. Ratings set to be released later on Monday will paint a fuller picture of how the Daniels interview compares.

The interview also started on the heels of an overtime NCAA tournament matchup between the University of Kansas and Duke University, which could have contributed to some of the viewership.
