If you’re like me you may have a mattress or two in your home that’s still in great condition, but it’s too firm because you bought it without testing it out or your needs have changed over the years. I’m in this exact predicament, where I have a queen-sized mattress with firm support—but the firmness is now too much for my achy joints and doesn’t offer any give. No, it doesn’t sink like a soft mattress would, but it’s too hard for side sleepers like me and ends up causing further aches and pains.

Enter the Titanflex Mattress Topper by Brooklyn Bedding. I was asked to give this mattress topper an honest assessment and it has been an eye-opening experience of what a difference a quality mattress topper can make. Not only can the right mattress topper improve your overall sleep experience, it’s a fantastic way of getting a “new” mattress, without the deep expense of purchasing a brand new one.

Keep reading for my opinion on the Titanflex Mattress Topper and whether or not it can save me from the added expense of purchasing a brand new mattress.

Titanflex Mattress Topper pros and cons

Pros:

  • Multiple size choices—you can select the firmness level of soft, medium, or firm
  • Comes in organic cotton outer cover or the GlacioTex Cooling outer option
  • Offers incredible support, comfort, and give, without being too soft
  • The topper is super simple to set up
  • Smells may dissipate within 24 hours but I found it took less time
  • Both topper options offer machine-washability and easy care instructions
  • It’s moisture-wicking

Cons:

  • The topper arrives rolled up tightly inside of a flimsy cardboard box
  • The vacuum seal is so tight that it can make opening it quite difficult
  • It doesn’t include any straps to attach it to the mattress so it moves quite a bit

Titanflex Mattress Topper price

The Titanflex comes in a range of sizes and options, which is another advantage it offers. As a side note, no matter what size or cover (organic cotton or cooling gel) you select, you can choose from either a soft, medium, or firm firmness level and it has no impact on the price.

Titanflex Mattress Topper firmness

As mentioned, you can select from three firmness levels of soft, medium, or firm. I reviewed the medium since I knew the soft would be too soft for a side sleeper like me, but didn’t want the firm level since the mattress underneath was already quite firm. Also, a medium firmness typically works well with most sleep positions and I sometimes switch to sleeping on my back.

The website doesn’t offer too much guidance on how you should select the right firmness level. Keep in mind though, mattress toppers are meant for making a mattress softer, not firmer, and they aren’t designed to compensate for any sagging or impressions occurring with your mattress.

Titanflex Mattress Topper construction and design

The construction of the Titanflex Mattress Topper is where it starts setting itself apart. It’s made from a three-inch contouring latex-alternative foam, which feels similar to memory foam, but much more responsive.

On the outside of the foam is the zippered cover. You can choose the hypoallergenic organic cotton cover, which is incredibly soft. Or, you can select the GlacioTex™ Cooling, which may be the preferred choice for a hot sleeper. The cotton layer is breathable, so it doesn’t get too hot, but the cooling layer option is meant to be cooler to the touch.

Titanflex Mattress Topper support and comfort

The support and comfort of the topper comes from its foam and outer layers. The foam is designed for major elasticity, so it contours to your body while offering pressure point relief at the same time. Unlike memory foam, the Titanflex foam springs back immediately, which may offer greater pressure point relief and support.

The breathable cotton remains comfortable throughout the sleep cycle and I haven’t experienced any issues getting too hot.

Titanflex Mattress Topper performance

Overall, the Titanflex performance impresses. It sleeps cooler, offers cushion and support while contouring to my body, and helps relieve some of the aches and pains in my shoulder and hips I often experience because I'm a side sleeper. I’ve slept on this topper for a few weeks now and so far it’s durable and still looks brand new.

If you do have any issues with the mattress topper’s performance, Brooklyn Bedding offers a three-year warranty for its toppers. It applies to any defects experienced from the materials with normal use. You also have 30 days to sleep on it and return it for a full refund.

Is Titanflex Topper for you? Who is this mattress topper best for?

If you’re a side or back sleeper and you’ve been disappointed with memory foam material in the past because it sinks too low, then the Titanflex Mattress Topper may be the answer. Its responsiveness and contouring properties offer lasting comfort throughout your sleep.

It’s also a great option for someone who is looking for a mattress topper with little to no chemical smell. You don’t have to wait days for the smell to go away since there isn’t much of one. The topper is also ready for use within a few hours of opening it.

If you don’t mind not having straps for securing the topper to the bed or if you tend to stay more still as you sleep, then the design of the comfort foam layer plus outer layer may work well for your sleep preferences.

What sets the Titanflex Mattress Topper apart from other mattress toppers?

You can find a wide range of mattress topper options but the Titanflex stands out for a few reasons. For starters, it’s reasonably priced for the amount of technology and plushness it offers. The foam material offers a balance between softness and comfort, plus springiness, unlike memory foam toppers that usually cause your body to sink down.

Secondly, it offers options for customizing your topper, which most companies don’t offer. You can choose your size, firmness level, and cover, so you can make it fit your exact needs. (For information on how to make a mattress more comfortable, read our guide.)

Lastly, it’s ready to go quickly out of the box and then easy to care for with its washable outer cover. While others often have strong chemical smells, this topper seems mild compared to others.

Other mattress toppers from Titanflex

Titanflex is the brand name of the 2-inch topper offered by Brooklyn Bedding, but Brooklyn Bedding has other topper options too. These include:

2.5-Pound Gel Swirl Memory Foam Topper

This 2.5-pound ultra-plush memory foam topper offers contouring and cooling and is a budget-friendly option for those who want cooling and softness. It comes in 2-inch and 3-inch thicknesses. A 2-inch queen size is $215.

4-Pound Memory Foam Topper

This 4-pound memory foam topper offers two height levels, plus you can choose between the cooling outer cover or the organic cotton. A queen size 2-inch with organic cover is $316.40.

3” Latex Topper

This version is most similar to the Titanflex, but it uses latex instead of a latex-alternative material. Latex is known for its natural, hypoallergenic properties and is biodegradable. A queen size with the organic cotton cover is $663.30.

Microcoil Mattress Topper

This is a mattress topper specifically designed for coil mattresses, providing greater breathability, comfort, and cooling, while adapting to movements. It’s $660 for a twin size.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

What is Titanflex foam?

Brooklyn Bedding describes the Titanflex foam as a latex-alternative foam. The material used in Titanflex is a proprietary alternative that provides many of the same springiness and comfort properties of natural latex mattress toppers, but without the hefty price tag. The Titanflex foam is different from memory foam too because it’s more responsive and springs back quickly.

How long will the Titanflex Mattress Topper last?

The length of time the Titanflex mattress topper will last depends on how well you care for it, how often it’s used, and whether or not the mattress underneath it is in good condition. You can extend the lifespan of the topper by regularly washing the cover, which decreases allergens, dust, and dirt. Just make sure not to put it in the dryer! You should also replace your entire mattress if you start experiencing sagging.

Does the Titanflex Mattress Topper come with a warranty?

Brooklyn Bedding does provide a 3-year warranty for any material defects with normal usage. Plus, you can use it for up to 30 days and return it for a full refund.

How does the Titanflex Mattress Topper ship?

The Titanflex Mattress Topper ships within three to five business days after they receive your order. It’s shipped via FedEx and you’ll get a notification for tracking. The mattress topper itself is tightly compressed so it arrives much more compact than you might expect. The compressed mattress is wrapped in plastic wrap, which is placed inside a cardboard box for shipping.

Final verdict

If your mattress is too firm or your firmness needs have changed over the years, then the Titanflex Mattress Topper may offer comfort and softness you crave, while still giving you the proper pressure point relief you need. I’m highly impressed with the added comfort it offers and would recommend it to anyone looking for a softer place to land.
