With summer right around the corner, it’s time to start getting this season’s swimwear in order–and we’re here to help. Finding the right swimsuit to keep on-call and ready can feel overwhelming with so many options out there. However, it doesn’t have to be. If you are hesitant about where to start with your swimsuit search, there’s no need to fear as we compiled a list of the best swimsuit brands on the market to help get you started.
Although many of these picks are our personal recommendations, we also tapped fashion stylist Leena Alsulaiman, stylist and style coach, Desiree Miranda, personal stylist and founder of Miranda New York, and Christina Stein, personal stylist and CEO of Style By Christina, to help us develop this list of the best swimsuit brands on the market keeping budget, features, and materials in mind.
If you’re looking for a sporty swimsuit, don’t rule out Jantzen. Although this brand offers traditional one-piece suits and bikinis, the brand also offers a variety of zip front long sleeve one pieces which provide additional coverage and protection from the sun with a UPF50+ rating. In addition to their added coverage, these swimsuits are soft to the touch (I immediately noticed this when wearing the Flowers Of The Sun Whoopie Long Sleeve One Piece) as they are made with a blend of nylon, spandex, polyamide, and elastane. Jantzen also offers a collection of men’s swimsuits if you’re looking for a pair of swim shorts.
Jantzen offers swimsuits with extra coverage and sun protection, making the brand a solid option for athletic individuals who spend a lot of time outdoors.

When it comes to luxury women’s swimsuits, Hermoza meets the mark in more ways than one. Its swimsuits, made with polyester and elastane, keep fit at the forefront while still being eye-catching and feminine. Many of their suits (including the Genevieve Bandeau One-Piece Swimsuit) have an attached belt that can be adjusted while wearing and built-in bras for extra breast support.
Hermoza is known for its long-lasting swimsuits made with high-quality and eye-catching fabric.

Whether you’re looking for a high-waisted or low-waisted bikini, Frankies Bikinis has you covered. “These bikinis are so cute with so many patterns to choose from,” says Stein. With more than eight bikini top styles, six bikini bottom styles, and 44 colors to choose from, it’s unlikely you won’t find a bikini that’ll match your beach or pool aesthetic. Plus, when you buy a swimsuit from Frankies Bikinis, you’ll support a female-led company–and we support that.

Although Good American is known for its denim, those shopping for one-piece swimsuits should not overlook this size-inclusive brand. With several one-piece swimsuits (including monokinis) of various designs to choose from, you won’t have to worry too much about how your swimsuit will look since they’re modeled on several models with different body types online. Plus, many of their swimsuits are made with wide shoulder straps and compression for increased support. And, they can be machine-washed for easy cleaning.

Although you may recognize the brand Adore Me for its lingerie (I know I have many of their bras), they also offer swimwear supporting cup sizes up to 46DDD for those with larger busts that are designed to fit like a bra (whether you choose contour, lined, push-up, or unlined cups) –and, I can attest that they do. In addition to their ability to comfortably fit larger breasts, these swimsuits are also super stylish and made with recycled materials.
Those with large busts will appreciate a swimsuit from the lingerie brand Adore Me as the tops are designed to fit like bras.

Looking to enhance your curves? I don’t think there’s a swimsuit brand that does it better than TA3. Made with patented shaping panels and intentionally placed laced, this brand helps show off figures and does so comfortably. Whether you’re looking for a one-piece swimsuit (like the Sleeveless Surfy—which is my personal favorite) or a Plungey Dress that can cinch up your body and double as a casual dinner dress on your next vacation, TA3 offers a variety of swimwear in sizes XXS-4X and three torso lengths (short, regular/long, and xlong). And, the brand even has some underwire suits that can support breasts up to a K cup.
This swimsuit brand offers patented shaping technology to keep your body cinched and curvy.

With more than 30 pieces to choose from, including tankinis, one-pieces (including some strapless one-pieces), bikinis, and swim sets, you’ll be able to shop for styles for a variety of uses and in many different colors to match your preferences. Although these swimsuits are accompanied by lower price tags, they do not miss the mark when it comes to their quality. Swimsuits For All is a popular swimsuit brand and for a good reason. Alsulaiman recommends Swimsuits For All as the brand has many sizes and styles available for purchase. Regardless of whether a swim dress, bikini, one-piece, or tankini is what you seek, Swimsuits For All has them available and in sizes 4 to 40. Although it’s not a guarantee, many pieces can often be found on clearance (sometimes for as much as 80% off, depending on the piece) on their website, which is simple to navigate. In short, this is a great brand to have in your beach bag.
Swimsuits For All is a brand dedicated to size-inclusivity and that mission is exemplified through its extensive selection of swimwear.

Shopping for a plus-size swimsuit? Bloomchic’s swimwear is available in sizes medium to 6X and is not accompanied by an unsightly price tag. If that wasn’t enough to convince you, Stein recommends it, too. With A-line and empire waist swimsuit options available, it’s highly unlikely that you won’t find one that you feel great in (and fits well). We can’t forget to mention that the most you’ll spend on a piece of swimwear is $40–what’s better than that?
When it comes to plus-size swimwear, Bloomchic offers highly adjustable and diverse options without the sticker shock.

If there’s a swimsuit style you can think of, Cupshe probably has it—and probably around the $20-30 mark. From classic bikinis to skimpier designs, retro halter one-pieces to tummy control suits, tankinis to cover-ups, Cupshe offers it. And if it’s a two piece? You can usually mix and match sizes. Speaking of sizes, the selection goes up to XXXXL, and for every size you select, there’s a pop-up that automatically shows the cup size, bust, hip, and torso measurement range. There are tons of color and pattern options, and you can get your suits fast (though free shipping only kicks in after orders of $199). They do offer discounts galore, which helps offset any shipping costs you pay.
When you want a lot of options without being overwhelmed, and want clear, up-front sizing info, Cupshe can’t be beat.

I selected the best swimsuit brands after interviewing professional fashion stylists about features, budget, and sizing. During our interviews, they provided some swimsuit brand recommendations, which I took into account and included in this list.
Living in Florida, I’ve tested my fair share of beach accessories—like beach towels and swimsuits—and have learned that not all swimsuits are created equally. That said, I’ve included a couple of personal swimsuit brand recommendations on this list (some of which our experts also recommended).
Since our experts noted in our interviews that swimsuits made from nylon, polyester, and spandex tend to last the longest, most of the brands above offer swimsuits made with these materials or a combination of these materials.
Not everyone has the same preferences when it comes to their preferred swimsuits. Keeping that in mind, I selected swimsuit brands that offer multiple styles, including one-pieces, bikinis, tankinis, swim dresses, and cover-ups. I also tried to include brands that offer several colors and patterns to cater to different preferences.
When thinking about how much you’d ideally like to spend on your next swimsuit, there are a couple of factors you should consider. If you live in a warm climate and/or spend lots of time in flip-flops and in the water or are shopping for someone who does, it may be worthwhile to invest more in a swimsuit with additional features and designed to last longer. On the other hand, if you don’t plan on swimming much and are only looking for a bathing suit for a short period of time or if you’re (or if the person you’re shopping for is) headed on vacation, you may feel comfortable allotting a smaller budget towards your next swimsuit. However, that is not to say that just because a swimsuit is cheaper does not mean it won’t meet the mark when it comes to durability, design, and overall quality. Considering your cost-to-benefit ratio is an individualized but important process to ensure you select a swimsuit from a brand that fits your budget and meets your expectations.
Since not all swimsuits are created equally with regard to their features, it’s important you’re knowledgeable about the different kinds of features out there to make sure you put your money towards a swimsuit that you’re satisfied with.
“For example, if you have a larger bust, look for swimsuits with adjustable straps or built-in bra cups for added support and comfort,” says Alsulaiman. “Or, if you're self-conscious about your midsection, look for swimsuits with tummy control panels or ruching to help smooth that area.” Some swimsuits also have design features, including adhered belts and laces to enhance your natural figure in addition to UPF protection. If you’re particular about a specific swimsuit material, knowing about which are available and those that are recommended by our experts, such as nylon, polyester, and spandex, is key.
Not every swimsuit brand has the same policies when it comes to returns and exchanges. Even if a brand has photos of pieces on different models, which is great as it provides you with a more accurate representation of how the piece may look on you, it is not always a surefire way to know if it will fit you as you expected or if a size accurately represents what you’re used to. That said, it is a best practice to thoroughly review their shipping, returns, and exchange policies and make sure you feel comfortable with them before giving your hard-earned money to a swimsuit brand. Also, make sure you carefully examine the size chart as each brand is different. “Sizing is not always accurate, so I would consider going with your usual size and one size up,” says Stein. “Sometimes a one-piece can be a little smaller because it’ll stretch and give you the fit that you want.”
There is not one type of swimwear that is the most flattering as the definition of flattering varies by person and how one feels while wearing a piece of swimwear. However, Alsulaiman recommends selecting styles that enhance the features on your body that you like the most and want to highlight That said, there are a couple of features she recommends looking for when swimsuit shopping that are generally flattering, including ruching, wrap-style tops, and high-waisted bottoms. If you want to appear slimmer, she advises opting for darker-colored swimsuits and those with vertical stripes. However, “bold prints and bright colors can help draw attention to your best features, too,” says Alsulaiman.
All of our experts agree that looking for pieces made out of durable and high-quality materials such as polyester, nylon, and spandex is the key to finding a swimsuit that will last for a long time. After all, when you invest in a swimsuit, you should do so from a brand that recognizes that your new garment will be exposed to potentially damaging elements whether that be chlorine, the sun, or sunscreen, and therefore should be strong and able to withstand regular washing without damaging.
According to Miranda, the price of a swimsuit will vary depending on its fabric, designer, and features. "A good quality swimsuit should be around $100-$180 at most,” says Miranda. You want to make sure you opt for a brand that has been creating swimsuits for a while and perfected their craft.” With this in mind, it’s possible to find high-quality swimsuits for a couple of dollars more or less than that range, and may depend on whether a swimsuit is on sale or just hit the market.
While we believe that every body at the beach is a “beach body,” if that is what will make you more comfortable when at the beach or the pool, Miranda recommends looking for a swimsuit that drapes down or has ruching at the front. Many swimsuits also contain shapewear panels and are made with “tummy-controlling” fabric which can help with the process. If you want to keep things simple, Alsulaiman recommends opting for a high-waisted bottom if you’re shopping for a two-piece suit or simply going for a one-piece.
