Drying my hair is one of my least favorite daily routines, since it takes about half an hour to fully dry my thick, long hair. So naturally, I was eager to test out the Conair InfinitiPRO Dryer to see if the claims that it could speed up drying time by 50% were true.

Designed for home use, this hair dryer has many appealing features, including two attachments, three heat settings, two speed settings, and a slightly textured finish that creates a comfortable grip. I tested it in my home for about a month to see how well it performed and whether it really saved time.

Unboxing and first impressions

The hair dryer arrived double boxed and both boxes were in excellent condition. The interior box has a quality feel to it, and the gold accents would grab your attention if it was on a shelf.

The dryer and the accessories were held in place with cardboard inserts, and were also packaged in protective plastic bags. Everything was secure, yet easy to unbox.

When I lifted the hair dryer, I immediately got the impression that itโ€™s of premium quality. At 1.5 pounds, itโ€™s surprisingly heavy. It also features a slightly grippy, semi rubber-like texture; itโ€™s clear it was constructed with care. Its gold accents are eye-catching and the accessories, while plastic, feel durable and well-made.

How does the Conair InfinitiPRO work?

Drying speed and settings

I have thick hair that falls below my shoulders. It also takes forever to dry. Using my previous hair dryer, a Conair 1875, I could easily spend half an hour drying my hair. I was excited that Conair markets the InfinitPRO as having a professional motor that dries up to 50% faster. Even more impressive? I found that claim to largely be true.

The dryer features high and low speeds, as well as cool, warm, and hot settings for a total of six potential combinations. I used it on high and hot, and found that I was repeatedly able to dry my hair within about 15 minutes.

The dryer feels powerful. The high setting is too powerful for drying bangs, but works for the rest of my hair. It also gets very hot. While I can tolerate shower temperatures that others would consider scalding, the hot setting was uncomfortable at times, and I had to pull the dryer back from my hair. Additionally, thereโ€™s a cold shot button to help seal in style and enhance shine. The button does deliver cold air, though I donโ€™t know that I saw much of a difference in style or shine when using it.

CONAIR says the dryer has ionic technology to create smooth looking hair with up to 75% less frizz. This is difficult for me to test, since my hair isnโ€™t typically frizzy. I would say that my hair looked as it normally does, and I wouldnโ€™t say that it was particularly smoother.

The InfinitiPRO is loud. It measures 94 decibels on its high settingโ€”louder than some of the professional dryers used in salons.

Attachments

The two attachments can be pressed onto the dryerโ€™s nozzle. I liked the concentrator for areas like my bangs, where I need a more precise stream of air. I also experimented with twisting the concentrator a bit, which let me angle the air without having to tilt the dryer.

The diffuser was more difficult to use. It weighs three ounces and measures about 3.5 inches long, so it adds significant weight and length to the hair dryer. I found it somewhat awkward to use. Since I have naturally straight hair, and the diffuser is intended for textured styles, it isnโ€™t really designed for my hair. I didnโ€™t notice that it sped up the drying process at all, but even my long hair never got tangled in the points. The points also made for a nice scalp-massaging effect.

Overall feel

The dryer is well-designed. Its cord is generously sized and I had plenty of room to move the dryer around without feeling tethered down by the cord.

I also really like the dryerโ€™s finish. Itโ€™s designed to create grip, even when your hands are wet, and has just the slightest rubber feel without being sticky or attracting hair or lint. The handle is slightly curved for an ergonomic feel that sits naturally in your hand, and the buttons are easy to access and press with one finger.

I found that the dryer was much heavier than what Iโ€™m used to. It weighs 1.5 pounds without any attachments, and since itโ€™s eight inches long, you have to hold it a fair distance away from your head. It becomes heavier and larger when you add on the diffuser, and I found using the diffuser to be particularly tiring and awkward. The dryerโ€™s weight is manageable while drying my hair, but not as comfortable as my previous dryer, which weighs just nine ounces. If you plan to travel with the Conair InfinitiPRO, it will add significant weight to your luggage.

Conair InfinitiPRO price

This hair dryer comes in many variations, including different finishes. The Conair InfinitiPRO is available in a polished orange finish from Walmart for $27.97. You can also get the lightly textured, grippier version, which I tested, in black from Amazon for $44.99. Amazon offers several other texture and color options, too.

Conair InfinitiPRO accessories

The InfinityPRO includes two accessories. Theyโ€™re easy to attach and can just be pressed onto the dryer nozzle.

Concentrator

The concentrator is designed for precise drying and smooth hair styles. I found that once attached, I could twist it for angled drying, so I didnโ€™t have to hold the dryer at an angle.

Diffuser

The diffuser features 14 plastic points that lift your hair as you dry. Itโ€™s intended for textured styles, like curls and waves.

How did I test the Conair InfinitiPRO?

I tested the Conair InfinitiPRO for about a month in my home. I replaced my old hair dryer with the InfinitiPRO and used it daily. I evaluated everything from the dryerโ€™s packaging to the assembly process. I also tested its performance on all settings with and without the attachments when drying my hair, including timing how long it took to fully dry my hair after a shower.

Conair InfinitiPRO โ€” Is it for you?

The Conair InfinitiPRO is an efficient hair dryer with numerous settings, and I can see it being a good fit for many people. Between the two attachments, the dryer is suitable for those with both straight hair and wavy, curly, or textured hair, though you can also use it without the attachments.

Conairโ€™s messaging that the dryer dries faster than others held true for me, though Iโ€™m sure those results would also depend on your current hair dryer and its drying speed. I think the InfinitiPRO probably dried my hair faster than any other dryer Iโ€™ve owned, and I would compare its speed to the professional quality dryers used at salons. As a result, I would say this dryer is a good choice for anyone who wants to save time on their hair styling routine, including those with thick or long hair.

While the InfinitiPRO offers fast drying and several settings and accessories to customize its use to different hair styles and types, its weight is its biggest drawback. It would not be a great choice for anyone with hand or wrist weakness or pain.

My experience using the Conair InfinitiPRO

I had an overall positive experience using the Conair InfinitiPRO. I was pleasantly surprised by its drying speed, and it proved itโ€™s capable of handling my long, thick hair, which other hair dryers struggle with. This dryer absolutely saved me time when drying my hair, and I think Iโ€™ll be more likely to actually put in the effort to dry my hair, rather than just putting it up in a bun while wet.

The hair dryerโ€™s finish provides good grip without having to use too much hand strength, and the handleโ€™s design is comfortable, too. The dryerโ€™s weight surprised me, since itโ€™s more than twice as heavy as the Conair that Iโ€™d previously used. However, the handleโ€™s design makes it easier to keep hold of the dryer, so the weight wasnโ€™t a huge issue.

I was also pleased to see the many settings and the attachments available. While I didnโ€™t use the diffuser much, the concentrator was useful for drying my bangs. Two speeds and three heat settings allowed me to tailor the dryer to my preferences and needs.

Final verdict

The Conair InfinitiPRO is a versatile dryer that performed well during my testing. It handled even tough drying jobs well, thanks to its two speeds and three heat settings, and I would recommend it for most people, including those with long, thick hair. The attachments increase its versatility, and its comfortable design makes it a pleasure to use. While its heavy weight is a downside, the hair dryer performed so well that I would still recommend it to most, with the exception of anyone who might have hand or wrist pain or poor grip strength.
