Delta SkyMiles personal credit cards now offering welcome bonuses worth up to 95,000 miles

Whether or not Delta is your go-to airline, the current Delta credit card bonuses should command your attention. Delta miles are typically a good value for domestic flights. And because these cards all come with a 15% discount on Delta-operated flights (thanks to a perk called “TakeOff 15”), the bonuses can be worth considerably more than they appear.

Here’s a quick look at each card’s bonus, as well as a few benefit highlights to help you understand the value that each card offers after the bonus is spent.

Delta SkyMiles Gold

The Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express card is offering 65,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 on purchases within the first six months from account opening. This is a 25,000-mile improvement over its previous offer, worth $290 more.

Delta SkyMiles Gold comes with a $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $150 in each subsequent year. This gives you 12 months to try out the card without cost. The perks include:

  • $200 Delta Flight credit after spending $10,000 on purchases in a calendar year.
  • Up to $100 Delta Stays credit to offset eligible prepaid hotels booked through Delta.
  • Zone 5 Priority Boarding.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum Card

The Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express card comes with 85,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first six months from account opening—a 35,000-mile increase from its previous bonus, worth $406 more.

Delta SkyMiles Platinum charges a $350 annual fee. In return, you’ll get:

  • Up to $150 Delta Stays credit to offset eligible prepaid hotels booked through Delta.
  • Up to $10 in monthly Rideshare credit to be used in the U.S. with eligible services such as Uber and Lyft (enrollment required).
  • Up to $120 in credit to be used at eligible Resy-participating restaurants (enrollment required).
  • Each year after you renew your card, you get a Companion Certificate allowing you to bring a travel buddy along on an eligible Main Cabin itinerary to a destination in the U.S., Caribbean, or Central America for only the cost of taxes and fees.
  • Complimentary Delta seat upgrades when available.

Delta SkyMiles Reserve

The premium Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express card awards you 95,000 bonus miles after spending $6,000 on purchases within the first six months from account opening. As with the Platinum, that’s 35,000 miles more than the previous bonus, worth $406 more.

Delta SkyMiles Reserve charges a hefty $650 annual fee. Still, it can be worth it for benefits such as:

  • Complimentary access to Delta Sky Clubs and Amex Centurion Lounges.
  • Up to $240 in credit to be used at eligible Resy-participating restaurants (enrollment required).
  • Up to $250 in Delta Stays credit for eligible prepaid hotels booked via Delta.
  • Up to $10 in monthly Rideshare credit to be used with eligible services such as Uber and Lyft (enrollment required).
  • Each year after you renew your card, you get a Companion Certificate allowing you to bring a travel buddy along on an eligible itinerary to a destination in the U.S., Caribbean, or Central America (including first class) for only the cost of taxes and fees.
  • Complimentary upgrade list, even if you don’t have Delta elite status.

Do you qualify for a Delta SkyMiles personal credit card?

These bonuses should be enough to interest just about anyone, regardless of airline allegiance. Still, before you apply, there are some things you need to consider.

Most important, you should have a credit score rated “good” or better, which FICO puts at 670 or higher, as rewards credit cards generally require that to qualify.

Additionally, you probably won’t earn a welcome bonus if you’ve had the the card before. For example, if you’ve previously opened the Delta SkyMiles Platinum card, you likely can’t earn the Platinum bonus again. However, you’re free to open any other Delta credit card and earn its bonus, including the Gold and Reserve cards.

American Express will let you know if you don’t qualify for a welcome bonus before you formally apply, giving you the option to change your mind.

TIME Stamp: Delta personal credit cards are offering some of their best bonuses ever

Now is a great time to open a Delta SkyMiles personal credit card. A single bonus can net you well over $1,000 in travel costs. These offers are worth hundreds of dollars more than before. As they end on July 17, 2024, you’ll have to act quickly.
