Julia Kagan

Julia Kagan is senior managing editor of TIME Stamped. An experienced editor and writer about finance, she was most recently senior editor, personal finance for Investopedia (2014-23). She is the former vice president and editorial director of Consumers Union and was editor of Consumer Reports and Psychology Today; and vice president, content for Zagat Surveys. Since January 2021, she has been chair of the Board of Overseers of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Other senior editorial jobs include national editor-in-chief of Back Stage, executive editor of Working Woman magazine, health director of Ladies’ Home Journal, and psychology/health director of Fitness magazine.

As an editor, she won a National Magazine Award (2004, Leisure Interests) and was a NMA finalist in 2004, 2000, 1999 (all Personal Service) and twice in 1986 (General Excellence, Personal Service). A former president of the Journalism & Women Symposium and trustee of Bryn Mawr College (2000-06), she was the visiting J. Stewart Riley professor of journalism at Indiana University from 1991–1993. She is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College and holds an MFA from the Bennington College Writing Seminars.
