Motivated by California drought conditions, the team behind the Reva showerhead wanted to reduce home water use while improving on low-flow options, says Chih-Wei Tang, co-founder and CEO of Silicon Valley-based startup Oasense. Sensors in the Reva shower head detect where you are in the shower, dialing the water flow up to full blast when you are rinsing and dropping to just 10% flow when you step away to lather up. The shower head can save about 50% of the water used in a normal shower, Tang says: “It’s essentially helping people take a shorter shower without actually taking a shorter shower.” Reva, a CES Innovation 2022 honoree for sustainability, eco-design, and Smart Energy, went on sale in July.
