Krispy Kreme has a little explaining to do to its U.S. customers. The chain has only been operating in Japan since 2006, but Japanese customers are already getting special treatment. Sure, U.S. outposts get all-American doughnut options like the baseball and cherry pie treats currently being offered, but Krispy Kreme locations in Japan just introduced two summer flavors that are not available in the U.S., including a watermelon variety that needs to come stateside ASAP.
Krispy Kreme Japan’s website describes the watermelon donut (or is that doughnut?) as “watermelon fruit juice jelly with chocolate chips,” while the green frosting “rind” is made out of “watermelon-flavoured chocolate.”
This lemon variety looks pretty impressive, too, and summery enough to justify bringing to your next picnic in the park:
And this needs to make it’s U.S. debut right now:
While Krispy Kreme in the U.S. gets its act together to bring watermelon donuts to hungry American customers, at least we still have our 7-11 Slurpee donuts.
