A new collection of data may provide some new insight for people who think they have been looking for love in all the wrong places.

Badoo, a London-based free dating app founded in 2006 by Russian entrepreneur Andrey Andreev, slightly outpaces its nearly four-year-old competitor Tinder in certain countries. Badoo was the most downloaded app in 21 countries, while Tinder was the most downloaded app in 18 countries, according to a graph of “most downloaded dating apps in 50 countries” in 2015 within the BBC News feature “The Dating Game”, which is based on data from the app analytics company App Annie.

As the BBC News article sums up the results: “Tinder dominates northern countries; Badoo is top in the east and south.” Breakouts of the most popular app by country can be found on the BBC News website.
