Cristina Rivera Garza cree que todos los libros son personales, pero dice que el suyo más reciente, _El verano invencible de Liliana_, “viene con una herida que aún está abierta.” La hermana de Rivera Garza, Liliana, tenía 20 años cuando fue asesinada en 1990 en su México natal. Se emitió una orden de arresto para el principal sospechoso, el exnovio de Liliana, pero él se dio a la fuga y el caso se desmoronó. En su memoria que desafía los géneros, Rivera Garza, ahora de 59 años, se embarca en una búsqueda para rastrear el archivo del caso de su hermana y finalmente encontrar al hombre que la mató.
