Sabra Hummus Has Been Recalled for a Possible Listeria Contamination

Sabra Dipping Co. is voluntarily recalling some of its hummus products made prior to Nov. 8 due to a possible listeria contamination.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Saturday that the listeria contamination was discovered at a manufacturing facility but not in the tested finished products. The recall includes products distributed to retail outlets in the U.S. and Canada, which have a “Best Before” date through Jan. 23, 2017. The FDA urged consumers to throw out the potentially contaminated goods.

Sabra products not included in the recall are Sabra Organic Hummus, Sabra Salsa, Sabra Guacamole and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips.

Listeria is food-borne illness that can cause nausea, high fevers, abdominal pain and diarrhea. The infection can prove fatal for young children, people with weakened immune systems, and it can cause miscarriages among pregnant women.
