A hotel fired its head chef after he wrote on Instagram that he really enjoys secretly feeding vegan patrons animal products.
The former head chef at Littleover Lodge Hotel in Derby, U.K., Adam Lambert, got into this mess by writing in a comment on Instagram, “being a vegan is a minority,” adding that his female conversation partner “should find a better way to spend your time, my personal favourite is feeding vegans animal products and them not knowing.”
The chef has since deleted his Instagram account and said that his comments were lies he only told to anger a vegan, according to the Telegraph. He upset several who protested on the hotel’s review page, threatening to boycott the hotel if they didn’t get rid of the chef based on the alleged sneak meat attacks.
Lambert has said he’s passionate about knowing where local produce and meats come from. Chefs in the U.S. have recently admitted they’ve misrepresenting menu items as well, even if it isn’t their alleged favorite pastime. The hotel insists that if Lambert did do as he said, it was off-campus. From the statement posted on Twitter:
“We have investigated all accusations against Mr Lambert and found no evidence suggesting that any of these practices have taken place within this hotel. However, due to the comments made by Mr Lambert regarding specific dietary requirements the company has decided to terminate his employment which has been done forthwith.”
