Singer-songwriter couple Paul Simon and Edie Brickell released a new duet online Wednesday just days after they appeared in a Connecticut court on disorderly conduct charges.
Simon and Brickell were arrested over the weekend by police officers who were investigating a physical altercation.
Despite the worrying charges, Simon, 72, and Brickell, 47, appeared in court holding hands. Both said they did not feel threatened by the other. Brickell explained the altercation to Rolling Stone in a statement that read: “I got my feelings hurt and I picked a fight with my husband. The police called it disorderly. Thank God it’s orderly now.”
The couple were ordered to return to court on May 16, but it seems they were eager to send a message about their relationship sooner rather than later. While the duet, which Brickell released on her website on Wednesday, does include references to a couple that has lost touch, it also features the couple crooning, “I wouldn’t trade places with anyone.”
