Fellow Saturday Night Live alum Amy Poehler describes Seth Meyers as “the best listener on television” whose biggest talent is “the delight he takes in helping others look good.” But as comedic headliner for this year’s TIME 100 Gala in New York City, Meyers had plenty to say about what it means to be on the list and served up good-natured gibes at some of the other 99 “most influential.”
Watch him console former TIME 100 designees for no longer being influential and remember what it was like to be a young comedian, hanging out in Amsterdam with Jordan Peele, contemplating the likelihood that they would someday be “influential.”
