The [president-elect](http://time.com/4591216/time-person-of-year-election-years/ "undefined") earned the distinction of being the top-trending person in 88 countries in 2016, far more places than anyone else in the world, according to data Google provided to TIME. Trump attracted the most attention everywhere from India to Mexico to Belgium. Other politicians made the list too, including [Julio Guzmán](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/mar/11/peru-presidential-candidate-julio-guzman-barred-election "undefined"), who ran for president in Peru but was disqualified, and [Lula da Silva](http://www.wsj.com/articles/brazils-lula-da-silva-indicted-for-alleged-corruption-money-laundering-1482157918 "undefined"), Brazil’s former president, who was indicted for alleged corruption and money laundering. Athletes were also popular, with Olympic gold medalists [Mariana Pajón ](https://www.olympic.org/mariana-pajon "undefined")and [Joseph Schooling](http://time.com/4451293/joseph-schooling-michael-phelps-rio-2016-olympics/ "undefined") drumming up the most interest in Colombia and Singapore, respectively, according to the search engine. And then there were the celebrities: [Leonardo DiCaprio](http://time.com/4594833/leonardo-dicaprio-donald-trump-green-jobs-economy/ "undefined") in Morocco, [Gigi Hadid](http://time.com/4578256/american-music-awards-gigi-hadid-melania-trump/ "undefined") in Montenegro and [Angelina Jolie](http://motto.time.com/4484457/angelina-jolie-pitt-women-involvement-peacekeeping/ "undefined") in Tunisia.
