Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford Had a Stellar Affair

2 minute read

Princess Leia and Han Solo‘s Star Wars love didn’t only exist in a galaxy far, far away. Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the blockbuster trilogy, told People exclusively that the force was definitely strong between her and Harrison Ford: “It was so intense.”

When she was filming Star Wars in 1976, Fisher was merely 19, but Harrison was 33 with two kids. According to People, Fisher kept a journal during the movie’s production, and many of these memories and stories came back to life in her upcoming book, The Princess Diarist.

Fisher recalls that Harrison was “kind” and that there was nothing resembling the Dark Side about him. In fact, she shared that she “trusted something about him.” Fisher described their intergalactic romance: “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”

When they weren’t filming and Han Solo could ditch Chewbacca as his co-pilot, Fisher reminisces on her moments with Ford: “I looked over at Harrison. A hero’s face — a few strands of hair fell over his noble, slightly furrowed brow. How could you ask such a shining specimen of a man to be satisfied with the likes of me?”

Ford has not returned People’s request for comment, but he was given a draft of the book ahead of its release on Nov. 22.
