This Cheesy 80s-Style Ad Imagines If the X-Men Superhero School Was Real

1 minute read

“Sometimes being gifted doesn’t feel like a gift,” says a new promotional video for a school that promises to make your gifted child feel right at home—if they’re a mutant who can float through walls or accidentally kill people with a single touch. If your precious child fulfills those requirements, they will feel right at home Charles Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, which is now accepting applications.

The commercial is made to look like it is straight out of the 1980s, and when you call the number listed in the ad, no one answers. A little research reveals that sadly the school is no longer taking new mutant applicants, because the video is simply a very clever promo for X-Men: Apocalypse. The teaser is so enticing, though, it is hard not to hope they’ll release the new X-Men movie on VHS.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27.
