While it is still unclear how legendary pop singer Prince died on Thursday, authorities have released the transcript of the 911 call from his Paisley Park estate near Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The “unidentified male” caller did not know where Paisley Park was, based on the transcript of the 9:43 a.m. call from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. At first he describes the person as “unconscious,” then later adds, “the person is dead here.” When asked if he is with the person who is not breathing, he says, “Yes, it’s Prince.”
In a statement, Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson said the recording artist was found “unresponsive” in an elevator at his studio residence in Chanhassen and that CPR failed to revive him. He was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning, but the results could take days, even weeks, a spokesperson for the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office told the Associated Press.
