Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande will perform at this year’s TIME 100 gala, a celebration of TIME’s annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Minaj, who appears on one of the six TIME 100 covers this year, just wrapped up a successful world tour and stars in the newly released Barbershop: The Next Cut. The artist often addresses racism and sexism in her lyrics and interviews. “She’s an icon, a boss and a role model to all these young girls out here on how to do it the right way,” writes Lil Wayne in his tribute to Minaj. “Her work ethic speaks volumes and has yielded these results.”
Grande, who recently hosted and served as musical guest on Saturday Night Live, will release her new album Dangerous Woman on May 20 featuring Minaj as a guest. The singer is also known for calling out double standards for women, and above all, her powerhouse voice. “That extraordinary, versatile, limitless instrument that allows you to shut down every objection and every obstacle,” writes Jason Robert Brown, a composer and playwright who worked with Grande on the musical 13. “That voice—powered by nothing but your remarkable empathy, your ravenous intelligence, your cool discipline and your voracious ambition.”
Other notable attendees include Melissa McCarthy, Caitlyn Jenner, Dr. Jill Biden, Aziz Ansari, Trevor Noah, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Riccardo Tisci, Gael García Bernal, Lewis Hamilton and Sen. Rand Paul.
