A Passover-Themed A Cappella Parody of DNCE’s ‘Cake by the Ocean’ Is Here

1 minute read

The all-male Jewish a cappella group Six13 has released a Passover-themed music video “God Split the Ocean,” a spoof of the popular song “Cake By The Ocean” by DNCE.

Sample lyrics:

G-d said
“Let my people go”, he spoke through Moses
And ’cause of His outstretching arm and strong hand
We crossed the parted sea of reeds on dry land, dry land

Waste wine for the plagues, you see, waste wine for the plagues, you see
Eat rice if you’re Sefardi, eat rice if you’re Sefardi
Ain’t got no bread to eat, ’cause we left so quick-a-ly
And you know that He split the sea and He set my people free

The group spoofed Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk” right before Passover in 2015 and the Frozen soundtrack the year prior in a video aptly dubbed “Chozen.”
