Ryan Reynolds, star of the new Marvel film Deadpool, got dunked for charity on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to raise $25,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which hosts trips and experiences for terminally-ill children. It only took the comedian a few tries before he got dunked in the water tank.
The cause is related to his latest role because Deadpool, whose real name is Wade Wilson, is a “former Special Forces operative turned mercenary” who was diagnosed with an incurable cancer after getting engaged to Vanessa (Morena Baccarin).
So in the last month, Reynolds has recorded PSAs to raise awareness about getting screened for testicular cancer and breast cancer. He also treated a young fan to an exclusive screening of the film and even donated to the crowd-funding campaign for his care.
