Back in January, Canadian rock band Arcade Fire teamed with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to host a David Bowie memorial parade in the heart of New Orleans. A Facebook event page encouraged fans to dress up in their best David Bowie outfits “or something more strange.”
The parade was held on Jan. 16, but this week, Arcade Fire released a short documentary providing more insight into the event.
“There are few artists that could possibly bring together this incredible group of people,” Ben Jaffe, creative director of Preservation Hall, told the crowd. “You all are amazing.”
The rest of the video highlights the joyful dancing, vibrant music, outlandish costumes and glittery makeup that briefly took over New Orleans to honor Bowie. Arcade Fire tweeted the video, along with their thanks to Preservation Hall, on Wednesday:
