After several years out of the spotlight, Adele burst back onto the scene with her record-breaking hit “Hello.” Some have spent time humming the song in the shower or crying to it after a few drinks, but others have have responded by covering it. From polished professionals to more amateur musicians, tons of singers have lent their voice to the heartbreaking song.
Though obviously nobody can top Queen Adele, plenty of artists have certainly done the song justice. Here are a few of our favorites.
Demi Lovato
The singer performed a powerful, emotional rendition at KISS FM’s Fall Ball in Seattle.
Joe Jonas (dressed as a sad clown)
Jonas and his band DNCE managed to make their version a bit more melancholy than the original. The clown costume is a tad distracting, though.
The Southern University Marching Band
Okay, so some people have argued that this cover is actually not so great — but it’s worth a watch because it’s just such a ridiculous spectacle.
Karen Rodriguez
The American Idol alum performed a gorgeous, bilingual rendition of the tune, weaving together English and Spanish.
Cam
The country newcomer put a lively, twangy twist on the tune, accompanied by an acoustic guitar while reading the lyrics on her phone.
Shawn Mendes
The 17-year-old Internet sensation — one of TIME’s most influential teens of 2015 — shared a 15-second snippet of his acoustic “Hello” cover. Fans are anxiously waiting for the full version.
Molly Lou Bartholomew
The certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter showed that the song is just as emotional when performed in sign language.
Sabrina Carpenter
The Girl Meets World actress channeled Adele by walking up to the mic in a big leopard-print coat.
Taps Mugadza
The Zimbabwean singer put a soulful, gospel-esque spin on the song just a few days after its release.
