Last week, we shared our picks for this year’s song of the summer, compiling a playlist of 25 contenders. Now, we defer to Ed Sheeran, who has weighed in with his top pick.
The British singer told Vulture that he thinks this year’s definitive summer jam should be “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk the Moon. “I’m just hearing that everywhere,” he said. “It just makes everyone happy whenever they hear it. I really like that song.”
Sheeran knows he’s not much of a contender, but he’s okay with that because he had one last year, and his songs “are really slow this year.”
He also said he’s a supporter of the song “Trap Queen” by New Jersey wrapper Fetty Wap. “It’s amazing that ‘Trap Queen’ is such a massive hit. I love that.” (He loves it so much, in fact, that he recently covered it with The Roots.)
