This couple certainly didn’t rush into marriage.
George Kirby, 102, and Doreen Luckie, 91, are finally tying the knot shortly after Kirby’s upcoming 103rd birthday. The English couple has been together for 27 years, and after much pressure from their elderly children, they have finally decided to get serious.
“I didn’t get down on one knee, because I don’t think I would have been able to get back up,” Kirby said, the Telegraph reports.
The pair lives in a hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex, and met in 1988 through an organization that helps seniors find friends. Kirby is a former boxer, physical education instructor, restaurant manager and gardener; Luckie spent much of her life as a typist.
