Alter is a former Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, former senior advisor and special counsel to the New York State Attorney General, and former general counsel for the New York State Department of Financial Services. He is an attorney in New York City and a former Coker Fellow in Constitutional Law at Yale Law School.
