As Rumania’s ex-King Carol was leaving Mexico City for Brazil and Europe last week, a courier from the Soviet Embassy arrived. For Carol he brought a note regretting that a previous engagement kept Russia’s Ambassador Constantine Oumansky from waving farewells; for Carol’s mistress, Magda Lupescu, a corsage of orchids.
