THE COLLECTED PROSE OF ELINOR WYLIE—Knopf ($3.50). The four novels and occasional prose of the late distinguished authoress, collected in one volume.

THE BEGINNING OF A MORTAL—Max Miller—Dutton ($2.50). The author of a book about his job (I Cover the Waterfront ) now writes a book about his youth.

MY LIFE AND HARD TIMES—James Thurber—Harper ($1.75). Very fugitive but allegedly autobiographical pieces, many reprinted from the New Yorker, by Madcap Thurber.
