Sport: Horsemen Drubbed

The “Four Horsemen” of Notre Dame’s 1924 football eleven—Stuhldreher, Crowley, Miller and Layden—came from the four points of the compass last week to reunite at Philadelphia. There, with a team mustered from other famous players of last year, including Hunsinger, All-American end, they took the field, in their first professional football game, against a team of mining-town brawnies from Pottsville, Pa., who helped by the fact that the Four Horsemen had had only two days’ practice, soundly drubbed them, 9 to 7.

Subsequently, at Hartford, Conn., the Hartford Blues, supplemented by the Horsemen, were drubbed by the Cleveland Bulldogs, 13 to 7.
