California’s usually reliable Mervin Field poll indicated last week that Dick Nixon would wallop former Governor Goodwin J. Knight in the 1962 Republican gubernatorial primary 77% to 12%, and that both Nixon and Knight could beatincumbent Democratic Governor Pat Brown in the election—Nixon by 48% to 38% and Knight by 44% to 34%.
