In April the U.S. produced 1,121,647 tons of steel plate, an alltime high for a 30-day month,exceeded only by the 1,167,679 tons turned out in 31-day March. At this rate, prospective 1943 steel-plate production (without a coal minestrike) can now be estimated at 13,000,000 tons, 12% up from last year.
