Mr. Average U.S. Golfer does 18 holes in 91, the Mrs. in Ill. These statistics were announced last week by the Indemnity Insurance Co. of North America, sponsor of a free-for-all Remote Control Golf Tournament (an advertising stunt with many kinds of prizes), after two months of tabulating the scores turned in by some 10,000 contestants who last June played simultaneously on 1,000 different courses. Best score: 64, chalked up by Grant Bennett of Winston-Salem, N.C. Ladies’ best: Californian Barbara Ransom’s 69. Six players (including one woman) got a hole-in-one.
