I’m just a soldier, lonesome and blueYou write to me and I’ll write to you.
Private Johnson got a reply next day:
I received this note, and since you’re blueHere’s two weeks K.P. cheer for you.
It was signed by Lieut. Colonel James A. Webb, commander of Private Johnson’s outfit.
