On Chicago’s frozen Comiskey Park field, the National (pro football) League’s championship was played out in sneakers instead of cleated shoes. The Chicago Cardinals ran wild in them. Halfback Elmer Angsman (ex-Notre Dame) ripped off two touchdown runs of 70 yds.; Halfback Charlie Trippi (ex-Georgia) went 44 and 75 yds. The underdog Philadelphia Eagles did some cavorting, too, but not enough. The score: Cardinals 28, Eagles 21.
