Leary Constantine went to the United Kingdom several years ago with a West Indian cricket team. He bowled so fast that he became a favorite of British fans. The professional leagues persuaded him to stay and play in England.
One day this summer Leary Constantine went to London to play in an all-star match between teams representing England and the Empire. With his wife, daughter, two friends and a secretary he registered at the Imperial Hotel in Russell Square. Later that night, the manager told Leary Constantine, who is a Negro, that he would have to leave the hotel next day. The manager said he wanted to respect the wishes of visitors from the U.S.
