The Army hopes it has solved a perplexing problem for Protestant chaplains overseas who use individual Communion cups. Because glass cups break easily and replacements have to come halfway round the world, the War Department last week placed its first order for paper cups.
For large groups the Navy avoids the problem by using chalices, which are made of metal, divided into two parts. One side holds wafers; the other side holds wine.
