Since World War II began, French-Canada’s Roman Catholic churches have several times prayed for peace. Last week Canada was pleased and proud when Quebec’s Rodrigue Cardinal Villeneuve announced Feb. 9 as “a day of prayer for victory,” wondered whether that meant Vatican approval of the British cause.
