The text of a poster which an African Free French broadcast reported as being surreptitiously posted in French villages:

“First, we can be intelligent, secondly, we can support collaboration, thirdly we can be honorable. But if we are intelligent and support collaboration, we cannot be honorable. If we are honorable and support collaboration, we cannot be intelligent. If we are honorable and intelligent, we cannot support collaboration.”
