IT IS MADE IN JAPAN, SPUTTERS ALONG AT 12 M.P.H. and weighs 70 lbs. The “suitcase auto,” which will be on display this week at New York’s auto show, takes about one minute to assemble. But is not intended for mass production. “We were just giving our engineers a blank sheet of paper to see what they could come up with,” says Mazda representative Tom McDonald. Too bad: just imagine put-putting to the airport and stowing your car in the luggage rack.
