California Closets

3 minute read
Christine Lennon

1 HAMASAKU “A great unknown Japanese restaurant in the back of a strip mall on Santa Monica Boulevard. I’ve been going there for so long, they have an Intuition roll named after me. Christina Aguilera is there a lot. So is Charlize Theron.” 310-479-7636

2 IT FRAGRANCE Hersh, of course, recommends her own perfume. “The scent captures the essence of California. It’s an intoxicating, playful and clean fragrance that will yield an emotional experience when you put it on.” $50 at shopintuition.com

3 SHOE SENSEI According to Hersh, all of L.A.’s serious shoppers have their shoes preselected for them by Lisa Case at Neiman Marcus. “She doesn’t work the floor. She’s behind the scenes, pulling shoes for her clients.” This season it’s a pair of chocolate brown distressed-leather Manolo Blahniks. $585, 310-550-5900

4 BUTTERCAKE BAKERY “It’s two doors down from the store, so it’s a regular stop for a lot of my customers. There are so many cupcakes in this town, but nobody really makes the red velvet like this.” 310-470-6770

5 TRUTH SERUM Regular facials at Ole Henriksen are a ritual for Hersh. “He’s an L.A. institution, and he started his business mixing products in his kitchen. I can’t live without this Truth Serum Collagen Booster.” $38 at Ole Henriksen Face/Body, 310-854-7700; products at olehenriksen.com

6 CLOUD NINE For bed linens, Hersh raves about Cloud Nine Comforts, a new shop in Brentwood that sells its own linen-cotton line and will send someone to your house to outfit your bedroom. “This is the ultimate Los Angeles service experience. One phone call, and they’ll take care of it.” 310-207-1257 or cloudninecomforts.com

7 THE “IT” BAG Hersh has a soft spot for trendy bags. After all, her discovery of the Jelly Kelly (the rubbery version of the Hermès classic) is what put her on the map. The latest sensation, she says, is the Mio bag, made of dyed and distressed leather. “It has pocket details that I haven’t seen before.” $580 at shopintuition.com

8 THE “IT” T SHIRT The vintage-looking ironic message T shirts that have been an L.A. staple for several years are still big, says Hersh. Hers comes in a Happy Meal box. “This one is special because it’s the first time McDonald’s has licensed their logo. I like the ‘You deserve a break today’ version with the arches.” $56 at shopintuition.com

THE “IT” JEANS Meli-Melo is the latest denim brand to spark a shopping frenzy among Intuition customers like Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan. Hersh predicts the brand’s cropped jeans will be the pair to have for spring. “They’re cut like trousers and have a really sexy fit.” $180 at shopintuition.com

EYELASH EXTENSIONS As an on-air style source for Good Day L.A. and a sellout host of Shop Intuition by Jaye Hersh on QVC, she has a few camera-friendly beauty tricks up her sleeve. Eyelash extensions are the latest Beverly Hills beauty obsession. “These make your eyes look done without any effort, and they last for two to three months [with touch-ups every two to three weeks].” $300 for initial treatment and $50-$100 for touch-ups at Twin Magic Lashes, 310-275-1075
