Secretary Mellon gave the Ways and Means Committee an accounting of $151,885,415 in refunds for overcollections in taxes. The refunds were for the year July, 1924, to June, 1925. Of the total, $17,777,642 was because of the 25% flat tax rebate granted a year and a half ago. Those receiving substantial refunds were:
