TIME
For the past six years Clarence C. Pell of Manhattan has been the best racquets player in the U. S. Not only that, but he has been the best racquets player in England and Canada. He spends a good deal of time playing racquets here and there, and no man has been able to beat him for six years, although for at least twelve years a certain Stanley Mortimer has tried to do it in the finals of every racquets tournament. Last week the apparently permanent champion and the obviously perpetual runner-up faced each other in the Racquet and Tennis Club of Boston. And for the first time in six years the runner-up beat the champion, 10-15, 15-9, 6-15, 15-17, 17-14.
