At San Sebastian, U. S. Ambassador Alexander P. Moore gave a party in the U. S. manner. As aides he employed a jazz band from Palm Beach; also dancers Peggy Cortez and Harry Pilcer.

To witness and give ear came Her Majesty Queen Victoria Eugenie, and 200 of Spain’s biggest nobles, among them His Royal Highness the Prince of the Asturias. Americans present included: Mr. and Mrs. Irving Brokaw, Mrs T. J. Harriman, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Strauss and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Ronald French of New York; Mr. and Mrs. A. Mitchell Palmer of Washington; Mr. and Mrs. Gouverneur Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Roy McWilliams, Mrs. Francis Drake and Mrs. Frances Elkins, etc., etc.

Enquired Queen Victoria Eugenie, after pondering the anamorphoses of mummer Harry Pilcer: “Are your legs, then, made of rubber?”
