Science: An Application

The Association for the Advancement of Science is an eminent body of scientists containing many eminent expanders of evolution. On the program of its annual meeting is an address on Darwin and Bryan. Last week, as the annual meeting was about to open in Washington, the Society received an application for membership, accompanied by a check for the usual $5.00 membership fee, from William Jennings Bryan.

Mr. Bryan, in Florida, said that he did not intend to attend the meeting but had joined in order to keep in touch with the Society’s work. He also averred that it was purely an oversight on his part that the check which he sent the Society was unsigned.
