In Duluth this week, leaders of Minnesota’s Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party will request Adlai Stevenson to accept their endorsement for President. Within a few days, Stevenson will answer yes. Although he has previously made it obvious that he will run, e.g., in Kingston, Ont. last fortnight, when he told newsmen he would accept the Democratic nomination if it were offered, Stevenson will consider his reply to Minnesota his formal announcement of candidacy. Thus, the 1952 Democratic nominee will become the first official entry in the 1956 presidential field.
