Charged with espionage, attempted assassination and directing enemy bombers, four Chinese Roman Catholics, two of them priests, have been convicted by a Chinese people’s court and shot. This is believed to be the first execution of clergymen by official court order in Communist China. Four others, it was reported last week, got jail sentences ranging from three years to life.
