Algiers was the last stopping place on Franklin Roosevelt’s road home from Yalta. Last week it was announced that he had also:

¶ Stopped briefly in Rome and at an Italian airport on his way to Yalta.

¶ Met three Middle Eastern potentates on a U.S. warship in Great Bitter Lake (see INTERNATIONAL).

¶ Shrugged off a snub from France’s General Charles de Gaulle (see Foreign Relations).
