Get on the edge of your seats, Mariah Carey fans. Mimi may be planning to surprise her fans with an album Beyoncé-style, according to Billboard.
Like Athena springing fully formed from her father Zeus’s head, Carey’s 14th album will emerge from the artist, complete — Carey said she will reveal her new album’s title, track listing, artwork and music all at once via her digital partners.
The forthcoming album features Carey’s frequent collaborators Rodney Jerkins and her producer-turned-manager Jermaine Dupri, but also teams the diva with current hitmakers Mike Will Made It and Hit-Boy. She also promised guests like Wale, Nas and Trey Songz, plus “a special guest star” that Carey is not “allowed to reveal.”
As for the title, that still remains a mystery — but Carey’s Twitter followers may be the first to know. “I have to be the one that announces this, especially the title,” Carey told Billboard, noting that the album’s name comes from a “personal possession of mine that’s part of an entity that I’ve had almost all my life.” (Did she get that butterfly tattoo at birth?)
Here’s the perfect soundtrack to listen to while you hold your breath:
