The Time 100 Poll
Each year, in advance of the special issue curated by TIME’s editors, we invite readers to cast their votes for the politicians, activists, business leaders, athletes and artists who they believe deserve a spot on our list of the world’s most influential people. As always, fans of entertainers like Beyoncé, Jared Leto and Justin Bieber made for vigorous voting blocs. Yet the 2014 poll was dominated not by pop stars but by politicians from India. As its general election loomed, supporters of candidates Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi battled for first, edging past pop icon Katy Perry. Here, a look at the top five vote getters.

NARENDRA MODI
8.5%
KATY PERRY
